Why do people use religion as an excuse for violence

He might have a flawed understanding of sharia law and contributes it to extremists such as daacish or AS ( there are many people who think like this even though it’s wrong). He might also not have known the weight of his words so didnt know the severity of it.
And also i dont think theres one country on this Earth that follows sharia law to the tee, they all pick and choose what laws they want to believe in.
Always remember this Hadith “Assume the best for your brothers”. We are not all perfect so try to assume he didn’t know better for the sake of Allah

Israel and Palestine are not in a religious war... It's one group that came through secular means (zionism was created by non-believing people) who wanted a land that other people (the Palestinians) lived in. Jews use fake history to legitimize their genocide, but it's about land and power, and Palestinians fight back to not be eliminated. That is the case. On the matter that religion creates wars. Wars were always common. Atheistic states, be it the Communist Soviet Union, Mao's China, or even other countries in Asia that were irreligious, had the highest death tolls. Anyone who thinks religions cause war is an uneducated bum. Hitler believed in an atheistic social Darwinian world view where humans came from lower animals (as atheistic as it can be) and believed in this notion of natural law where competition for survival based on purely evolved hierarchy was the only game in town. The reason why Hitler was extremely atheistic as well. He used religious language often, but that is neither here nor there, since his worldview was extremely materialistic. That is why he was okay running the country and reducing the significance of mass human death in a factory-like logistic way. There is relevant scholarship that backs this.
Terroristic groups always derive from the death and destruction, and the ambitions of a few guys who want power to compete against the state, using a veil of religion falsely to legitimize their secular aggressive expansion. They don't expand through purely religious means; otherwise, they would not use the method, and they would not even exist if Western imperialism hadn't come and destroyed and interfered in their lands. And also, what is often considered "terrorism" is a thin line because apparently the West causes much more problems, but somehow that seems "legit." Sending drones to kill a bunch of children somewhere is never framed as terrorism.
