Why is Sweden so violent compared to other North/Western European countries, and how did Somalis join/form these gangs?

How did Somalis who arrived/grew up in Sweden in the 90s/00s end up becoming violent criminals who are involved in shootings, drug smuggling, drill rap etc? It feels very senseless from an outsider looking in

the crime is dying down I heard, the gangs aren't as prominent compared to 2-3 years ago
