Public test phase for the EU Settlement Scheme began today. If you've been living in the UK for more than 5 years then you can apply for the settled status and if you don't have 5 years continuous residence, you’ll get a pre-settled status instead.

If you are a citizen of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland living in the UK you can't apply until the scheme is fully opened in 30 March 2019.

I didn't have to pay because I already had a permanent residence card that I applied for and received back in 2017 this was before they introduced this new settled status scheme but yeah everyone else has to pay.
