The Government's interferance has led to this phenomenon. No judge should be able to decide whether a father is never allowed to see his kids yet force them to pay child support at the same time. Marriage should be a verbal contract enforced by a community. If the man or woman fail their duties to the kids they should be shamed by society.

Rewarding behaviors like single motherhood with a cheque from the government has led to less mediation between families whenever marital issues arise as everyone knows they can quit without consequences.
