The boy in the Green cap and the camera man have been apprehended by Al-Shabab in Baardheere. The girl was also taken by Shabaab and is said to be facing execution later on in Middle Juba region. The girl is also claimed married and will be stoned to death based on the shariah law. If a married spouse commits zina they are stoned. Reports say that the girl insisted on committing the sexual act but did not consent to being filmed.

The 2 other culprits fled the region. One escapes to Kenya and the other flees to Xamar where he is eventually captured by Somali government forces.
