Pyongyang, North Korea: 1953 vs 1964

After 70% of Pyongyang was destroy by the USA bombings in 1950's, the entire population of the city was facing hungry, poverty and homelessness. However they were able to completely rebuild their capital In less than 10 years and fix most these issues. They modernize their city as well, by building roads, new sewage systems, power plants, schools, hospitals etc. This is very impressive and inspiring.

Reminds me of Somalia and how all the development is in the capital. Just like Xamar, Pyongyang doesn't show the reality of the rest of the country.

I know what you mean, this post was just meant to be inspirational, to show that there is hope once Somalis stop fighting over pointless things and begin to see the bigger picture. As for North Korea, their cities were destroyed, their people were starving and homeless yet they were able to bounce back, maybe not at a large scale but they did a decent job. They did it quickly too within 10 years or so and during the mid 20th century before most modern building equipment was used. By the way North Korea was actually much richer than South up until 1980.

somalia should pour most develooment into max 3 cities for some time. somalia is too poor to be like oil countries and develop every region like saudi arabia.
