Puntites love federalism, we came from Boqortooyos and Sultanates. We tried Centralism but we saw what happened during 21 years of Dictatorship and the 1991 ethnic cleansing of Daarood in Mogadishu.

Politicians in Puntland don't support federalism because they are corrupt, they support federalism because they truly care about their people. This is probably foreign to someone like you.

The vast majority of people in Puntland are pro federalism and deep decentralization. Farmaajo had some good will from Puntland in his first year, even I supported him in the first year. But it soon became clear he is not interested in a Somalia with that is truly federal, and lost almost all support.

Only seen a few who are genuinely clueless and don't understand federalism at all.
I don't think there are any well-informed Puntites who are for Centralism.

Who does it serve anyway? In fact, Puntland itself needs to improve its decentralisation process but it's an ongoing process and we will get there.

I want to get to a point where each village in Puntland is a self-running machine and the locals hold monthly townhall meetings with the mayor and council members to discuss progress.

Farmaajo was welcomed by Puntites as we welcome all Presidents. Most of us just didn't realise how deep his roots are with Siyad Barre and Centralist kacaanism. Not did we know about his cuqdad filled MA thesis where he bashed MJs.

I have never seen someone squander so much goodwill and an opportunity to go down as a hero for Somalia. Instead, he started violent micromanaging, withholding development projects and funding and inciting chaos and economic ruin.

What is your understanding of federalism ? Puntland administration wants to control its own foreign policy in regards to UAE, majority of the people of Puntland are against that particularly in Bosaso.

We don't owe Qatar anything other than they funded Farmaajo's campaign. We have neither historical ties or trade with them. His own ambition has nothing to do with us.

the mjs i spoke with were mixed on him. they didnt like his stances towards pl but support him over the mucaarad.
