The War in Laascanood has now become political. Deni has invited Dhulbahante ismos to Garowe for secret meeting. HAG supports Isaaq in Goojacadde because they want the disputed Harti Mp seats to be elected in Muqdisho hotels and not Garowe in order to limit the influence of PL. A Disputed or Somaliland controlled Laascanood is a political win for HAG. A free Laascanood under Puntland is a political win for Deni.
That all depends on if Dhulbahante wants to join Puntland willingly. A Free Laascanood will also mean trouble for Djibouti. They will lose the major influence they’ve had on all the past Somali elections.
If Somaliland doesn’t regain control of Laascanood by the next federal elections than all the sham Dir MPs in the parliament will become worthless and irrelevant.
That being said we now see major Alliances & deals being formed in the making leading up to the elections. In Jubaland we have the Ogaden & Absame reaching out to their brothers in Adis Ababa and DDS.
In the North you have Hartis United on the Laascanood issue, we don’t know if that alliance will continue to hold to the end… For HAG nothing new has come up. majority of Hawiye politicians are either out of the playbook or recruited into the current HSM Administration.
Sheikh Sharif,Khaire,Osoble parties all lay dormant and are running down the clock
