Professor Hodan was a strong speaker and told them the truth about a number of challenges the investment environment is facing. I also support the minister of planning arguments. He used Borama as an example of how they had a goal of completing a 40 km road connection on the high-way, they reached 6 km(before tabar la'an), the international community came running to help them. The wisdom behind this is, we are mamulo 'saqiir' ah and cannot develop everything, but we must lead the way on trying to do what is within our capacity.
It's true, u stand a better chance before the I.C when u say the 'babies are slowing' trying to walk, and show them proof of that and they will see that as confidence to do their 'part' to complete the parts they can't.. Lakin cunug meel iska fadhiyo, qof cawin karo ma jiro.
Marka halays muujiyo in every tuulo to start projects, PL govt can use that as evidence to the I.C to do their part to complete it. The worst strategy is doing nothing.
We must promote 'growth' for DDS and Oromia and tell them if they grow, we grow, it's mutual benefit. We must diversify our agriculture to DDS not fully relying on Hiran as that can cause a-lot of harm dad hal meel ku xiran. DDS is spreading out it's trade and going to use that to make sure it's economy cannot collapse nor can any1 pressure them as they will go to another port. Plus they going to tell PL/SL to 'compete' to bring prices down for them. That's smart politics.
But, PL sits there waiting for Hiran agriculture and we are not spreading out our agriculture partners, to make sure no pressure can be applied to us thru the SFG using HS. It's of absolute critical importance we split our agriculture providers to DDS/Hiran and make sure we are not 'choke hold'. We must slowly build up our 'agriculture' sector locally tho but in the 'interim' till that is achieved, we must take this 'trade posture' of splitting our agriculture partners to DDS/Hiran.
DR, I am amazed by Garcad i must say. I didn't think it would have came to reality but it did. You guys will now have the DDSI/Eastern Oromia market on lock inshallah
Food security is a very important pillar not a 'food economy' tho, if your economy is based on an economy of 'food', that trade is very low earning sector and oversupplied worldwide to ensure a down-ward pressure on pricing.
PL must achieve food security capabilities only and that's it and stop there and not waste time/effort joining the over-satured 'food industries' regionally/globally. GDP is based on the final product u produce and it's unit pricing x quantity x effort x 12 month 'time cycle'.
If the unit pricing is 10 cent x 100 tonnes, the 'value pie' is 'pennies' and the actors are on 'pennies' too thus effecting taxation growth, that's why we should never create an economic vision of becoming an agriculture economy. PL must make it clear to itself and it's people and the world, our agricultural goals is only for agricultural security nothing more, we will not waste valuable GDP time, capital, and effort, on a dead sector.
But congratulations to DDS for promoting PL, they will do the same for GM and HS, im certain so they can 'stranglehold' as many regions and ensure it's trade security isn't in 1 place plus they can use it to influence all the trade ports to 'bow' or else it can argue it will 'leave'. Where will trade post go? nowhere, so it will be susceptible to DDS pressure. So it's in their interest as many ports are created so it can switch it's trade when a region misbehaves lol or it can play the diversify so it can be 'trade secure' while ensuring best taxes n distance to port.
PL must becareful if DDS/SFG/HS get in bed on interest to target PL agriculture security, we r in big trouble, so in the mean-time keep ur head down, allocate large land in each state for our agriculture and tell investors to immediately begin large scale investment as this capability is critical to ensure we 'politically' free from threats of agriculture embargos.
DR, I am amazed by Garcad i must say. I didn't think it would have came to reality but it did. You guys will now have the DDSI/Eastern Oromia market on lock inshallah
Ogadens have large elite, academics, etc due to kenya/ethiopia stability and diaspora. They don't care 4 PL, they're diversify their trade capability to ensure it's not 'threatened' with economic collapse. In-fact they will do the same 4 HS/GM once u guys open ur port, the more ports, is better for them as they 'spread' their trade n diversify while using it to pressure regions to comply to it's political goals. Plus it puts a downward pressure on taxes for them, if anyone up's the taxes on them, they will threaten to go to another port. Infact if anyone threatens their politics they will say the same. Ogadens want as many ports in somalia, the winner is them, not the ports bro
@Prince of HS darod r not like the HAGS bro oo qabil jeclaysi isku raca. Their has to be fundamental 'interest' at all time like PL/JL the interest is 'federalism', if that interests go, isma arkayan. DDS is the same lol, their interest is to diversify their trade links so their no threats of market collapse, they want to ensure downward pressures on taxes at port thru port competition or else they will go to another port, plus it wants to ensure it can eventually have a huge economic stake on every region and push them towards 'ogaden politics' inside somalia and thru kenya/ethiopia they will use that as 'shelter' base in-case somalia goes all fkn 'apes' again. plus influencing foreign policy from those countries on somalia,
@Prince of HS even the SSC their is fundamental interests first for PL n Darwish. 'Somalia unity' and 'Federalism', if u take away those 'interests', isma arkayan also. The conflict with Marehan is purely over 'interests' see how Interest play the biggest 'factor' for darod, where-as hawiye r more 'defensive and undecided always' by responding to what other clans are doing only seeing things at a 'clan' layer, their not seeing it's full dimension. They don't think about their interests at all which is the 'capital' is a big 'capability' for them, but as u know they resort to 'clan' and hurt their 'capital status' not seeing they can benefit from all somalis at the capital.
@Prince of HS look at the trade deficit high skilled imports, low skill exports infact it's 'neolithic era' exports from 10,000 years ago, not an inch of progress from 'food industry'
Pls bury me @anon2, our exports is still in the neolithic 'age' from 10,000-15000 years ago. Bury me as I cant face my international peers with this type of data.
These conferences should be more frequent, and perhaps held annually in Somali peninsula.
Postscript:
This is impressive; projected original cost of the overall Garacad project was 522 million, of which 350 million was solely for the port, so far 105 million, locally raised, has been expensed, with 82 million required to finish the remaining 35% +/- for the completion of project.
50,000+ ton container ships could dock.
The GGG road, a heavy duty motorway, which could accommodate, if withstand large trucks, is projected to cost 197 million. This is remarkable!
The competition and winner will be who has the best quality in Somalia. PL must focus all it's resource to make sure the quality is the highest or else their will be no difference between our products and the nation. Plus if u waste ur capital/time/effort to create or sell low quality goods, u can fool people once, but they won't buy from u again, so u just wasted your time.
Our schools n health ma gali karo masuq, this is critical 4 human capital to develop. Even if u masuq this you hurt your future kids, that's why everyon goes to turkey/india, marka maxay 'fa'ideen'? waste of time soo ma aha? same with school, if u masuq this, they wasted their time when studying in scholarship, way ku dhacayan, marka maxad 'faiday'? khasaaro only due to no quality.
The biggest investment is to ensure our food and water is quality or people will get diseases this must be done also, plus sanitation in public, sewages, drainage, etc. I warn puntites ha galina any investment without 'quality' being discussed or u join the black market and that business will die when ppl realize it's low quality, plus quality will make us no 1 winner in the market and make us different to other somalis.
