Puntland Economic Road-Map

Puntites are invited to join this discussion and also other clans who are 'productive' focused not 'shock value focused'.

To have a sound economy we must address the 'actors' involved. These are the actors

1. Govt
2. Locals
3. Investors
4. Markets

Govt goal is to increase 'tax revenue' and invest in infrastructure(physical or social)
Local Goal- They want jobs and wealth
Investor Goal - They demand govt has infrastructure, skilled capital, and strong rule of law institutions and want to generate profits.
Markets - Local-Regional-Global

We must give each actor what is required from them.

1. Govt must be told to focus on schools, hospitals, roads, food security, roads, ports, airports, energy, water. This mix of physical-social infrastructure is needed to facilitate investment environment. Govt must be informed to streghten the rule of law and the court system as this is just important to investors. Govt needs to scan investors against it's job creation plan, it must measure the value pie and how it's distributed, how to keep the supply chain locally. We must set up industry watch dogs to ensure 'quality asssurance' it's sad to see them work and then generate low quality outputs which means they lose their potential markets who won't re-purchase leading to company failures.

2. Investors must be told the goal of the govt is to create a middle class and shifting the poor into the middle. They must be shown how a middle class benefits them as investors because they will 'grow' as they respond to increased demand. But if the local pool is at the bottom, no demand increases, meaning no investor response, which effects govt revenues and then the whole nation is poor and reliant to charity from the world.

3. Locals must be told they need to 'give' up on the dishonesty-cheating-fraud-corruption mind-set and inform government to set up a clan 'accountability' competitions yearly on who has the lowest criminal, corruption rate, clans who has the best school-work performances. This should be collected/managed thru PL ID cards. God said he doesn't change a people if they don't change first. How do ppl change? thru social accountability becuz god judges every soul thru the same mechanism, so 'praying' won't work as god said he won't interfere. It's funny we do everything in Islam, except the most important area 'accountability'.

4. Markets. This is Govt/Investor joint responsibility to scan regional-global-local spaces that is untapped or can be tapped further. We must approach this thru common sense. If the area is 'tapped' we must assess if it has 'matured' and if it has leave it rather then 'fighting for scraps' unless we can produce the same product/service at a much 'cheaper rate'. If it's empty or limited suppliers, we must tap into these areas for our investors. Investors needs 'markets' established, before workers can be generated jobs to tap into that market.

I suspect we need to 'target' middle income-first world nation markets becuz the purchasing power is much stronger so this requires we study their 'market laws/standards'.

We must look at the 'commodity' markets that is 'set' at the stock exchanges and review 'suppliers, has it matured, etc'. We won't benefit from 'trade' ties to similar poor country markets, the gains will be 'minimal' due to their 'economy scale'. If we stick to ethio-kenya african type markets, the problem is the 'amount of jobs created' locally will be 'small' becuz those 'markets are not of industrial scale'.

We need organized 'labor' in PL or a strong govt that can regulate for them between companies. It's well known when capitalism began in America, the middle class were non-existant and only 'small business owners were middle class' while the masses were poverty stricken with a top 1%. Similar to how Somalia is now actually. Then the golden age began post world war 2, notice during this time unions were 'strong' and a large shift happened into the middle class.

Then post reagan when he began his 'deregulate, low tax will trickle down to workers' motto, wat we see is the working class is shifting to working poor of the 1850s and ironically 'unions' are at their weakest. To deny union factor in economy is stupid, especially if your workers are largerly poor and susceptible to 'abuse'.

Infact some argue living standards decline n inflation rise strongly when middle class disappears

Service sector. We don’t have enough energy to do manufacturing. We should do what Filipinos do for example and send nurses all around the world

@Bari🐍 Yes we will need to use the 'export labor' model. The Aging population is a huge industry in the west and will continue to grow due to 'good health standards' this is the 'easiest' sector to do with little skill required.

We must shift our 'hopeless' segment not our 'intelligent' people here. We must discuss with 'western' partners what we need to do on our side in terms of skills/accreditation.

A lot of work is being shifted to the third world as well. We lack the infrastructure to support this though.

Well when we ask for development grants, we should tell them we want 'training facilities' for 'aged' care focus and seek 'certifications' needed, we must also consult western nations if our facilities are 'suitable' to their standards.

@Bari🐍 every westeren nation has 'shortage of labor' due to low birth rates. We must 'review' where the 'growth' is in their shortage sector, how big the 'gap' is, what investment we neeed to do to set up facilities in PL to develop them skills, then get western nations to come and visit to inspect quality and be given 'tick' of approval as labor supply from Puntland.

The scary part of this 'export' labor market is following in the colonial spirit of working for their 'ships' in the past, it's ok for 'current solution' but any country backbone economy tied to foreign country isn't a long term solution. We must put our brains together to figure out ways to create a strong internal economy.

Due to the 'energy' limitations in PL, we must adopt 'industrial' park model so we can invest in one area with high energy output to power large equipments/machinery, so a location in PL must be selected, we can't spread this out becuz it will mean creating more high energy backbones which simply isn't feasible.

So we need an 'industrial' park set up with industrial zoning, land plots, roads, and high energy payload power lines, similar to amal estate or green city in bosaso but with an 'industrial' twist. We can expand our manufacturing year by year to be among 'one of our biggest GDP earners'.

Im suprised we are still stuck in the infrastructure/water/food security, access, coverage, etc. This honestly should've been wrapped up with Farole era, while gaas focused on making our health sector world standard with high access/coverage rates plus setting up training facilities to prepare 'quality puntites' for export labor(less quality) and quality internal labor(for gifted students).

Brother Osman be spitting facts! I’m surprised you didn’t mention HAG this time

Puntites think the 'larger population' countries means big 'markets' to tap into. It's not accurate way to look at it, the 'purchasing' power of the market is the right way to look at it. Industrial countries have 'strong purchasing power' and 'high consumption' meaning more production(more jobs), where-as a population can be billion ppl market but it's irrelevant if the population purchasing power is '1 dollar a day' . 1 dollar a day population will simply not allow u to create much production or jobs to respond.

I only mention them cuz how dangerous and careless their leaders are, lack of social unity over political goals to keep them in check meaning anyone and anything can rule them regardless of where they r taking them.

Imagine what I see. I see this with HAGS where they want to take us but most puntites don't see it cuz the 'door is closed' for a 'second' to 'fool' em first

Well not all some know the dangers of hamar politicians, some r 'silent' to it, but im VOCAL only
