Weapon Cache Seized At Kismayo Port


Jubaland authorities on Tuesday seized a cache of weapon hidden in a ship container at the Kismayo port.


A source at the Port confirmed to Radio Dalsan that the weapons were part of a motor vehicle shipment said to be originating from an unidentified South African port.


The weapons include 2,00 of AK-47 , BKM, Pistols, RPGs and IED making material.



The owner of the ship has been identified as Puntland businessman Abdi Jamal.


Jubaland security and Amisom have launched an investigation to find out where the weapons were headed to.


Despite a long existing arms embargo weapons still find their way into the country fueling an ongoing insurgency by militant group Alshabaab and several other clan based.

This story is likely connected to the recent report of a possible looming clan fighting in Kismaayo, a soldier was charged for murder by a court and sentenced to death, which resulted in a standoff as the soldiers of the same clan refused the punishment being enacted, causing the soldiers of that division to divide among clan lines.
