Puntites run Salalah, Oman?

Bayt Ali Saleebaan (MJ)
Bayt Siwaaqroon (MJ)
Bayt Dashishe (Dshiisha Daroodi)
Bayt Dhulbahante
Reer Cumar (MJ)

Basically, Harti clans who together are called "Daaroodi" and they are descendants of Reer Bari merchants who intermarried with the locals.

The Head of HSBC Oman is Harti and they also hold other various high power positions in Salalah.

Sounds like Bayt Cali Suleeymaan are the largest.

They hold yearly graduation ceremonies for "Daaroodi" students in Salalah, Oman, which is their stronghold.

The old man is of Dhulbahante descent and their clan leader.

So there were two massive migrations of Harti people , one to Kismaayo and another to Oman.

We should have all gone to Oman instead. Somalis don't deserve our aptitude for business and politics.

Puntland’s best partner is Oman, we need to continue to strengthen ties and encourage more investment into Puntland from our Omani brothers and sisters.

Even the mayor of Salalah or something like that is of Bayt Cali Saleebaan.
We should strengthen our ties and make moves to have another homeland.

These other Somalis show no signs of wanting to move forward.

Old PL culture was vastly different to what you see today. I say it's an infection from Mogadishu culture and 'returnees' coming back with that 'mindset' but luckily they have no 'real' power or say beyond day to day running of the state. The key thing they lack is understanding the different histories between where they lived in hamar and where they are now. It's like me coming back to PL, I have to separate my western culture and use only 'science' since this is above culture and is factual but take into consideration the historical story in this land not the historical story in the West who were peasant farmers under a 'king'.

They can only operate with heirachy and need a BOSS, a Puntlander is economically INDEPENDENT with his livestock and can not be bossed around. So there is key difference u see? u need another approach, this is called the brainstorming stage.

Deffo.

Puntite culture and even accents have changed after we moved to Mogadishu. Local Puntites don't even like those politicians who were raise in the South because they don't respect Xeer as much.

Puntite culture kept us safe and progressive historically and now we're stable because of that.

@Finesse For example girls are now seen as a burden before they were seen as 'hanti' because when u married them off, the family gained 'assets' in the marriage, depending who they married? the larger the asset. The boys were seen as 'magac' keeping their name alive through-out the generation not much else. Their was real no discrimination between males and females as both were considered a benefit to a family be it economical or lineage wise.

You should really write a book on old Puntite culture, we need to teach it to these new youngers who think it's ok to welcome Khayre in Galkacyo when he is disrespecting protocol.

They cucked to Arabs, assimiliated into them, lost their language, culture and everything.

Meanwhile, the Arabs (Rashaida) who migrated to the Red Sea during the same period and for similar reasons, built a colony and kept their language/culture and everything lmao.

Well back then 15 'geel' per girl. U know what that means? that's 15k in today currency terms but not in cost of living terms. Back then 1 adhi could keep u alive in 'mogadishu' and living well in the city for a month because the cost of living was far less. So you can imagine how much 15 geels would've amounted to in Mogadishu? probably 2 houses. What we need to do is find out the prices of properties in mogadishu in 1960s when my awoowe was alive because he only gave away his daughter for 15 camels as a 'bare minimum' and higher depending on the clan they were marrying, history, and economical base.

For example Reer Mahad wud stretch 'far more' cause he knew they could 'afford' it since their numerous and have large livestock not so much Issa Mahmoud though, he would negiotate differently with them. It wasn't just for economical reasons, sometimes 'political' also, especially if that family has a strong 'pull' or 'connections' in the cities and towns.

City life changed us, changed us big time as we started to adopt the southern mind-set which I think was a mistake. Mind you some city folks used to 'return' home while living in the city to keep in contact with their rural family members, lifestyle, and so forth. But not when they became 'older'. This all stopped. It seems they just stuck it out in the city way of life, I guess their parent influence no longer was there.

But I do know while they were studying in Mogadishu, they would return home to visit, check up on family, and make sure everything is going well rurally livestock wise, weather wise, and pick up on 'dhaqan' history like gabays in holiday seasons. But yes marriage was 'strategy' back in those day, they came to the city and it was about 'jecel' there was a big SHIFT truly. Now we have these 'sobby jecel song culture' rammed down our throats, the old puntites were about 'reality' marriages. They were more focused on 'real benefits' to their family.

@Finesse that's why I find it strange what are we doing in a nation with such a vastly different mindset, history, and rural law system to ourselves? we don't even share the 10 commandments with these people and u want us to agree on a state? we don't view males/females the same at all. We don't marry for the same reasons as they do. We don't have foreign policy arm like they do since they are NEW to this game and do not understand, we had foreign policy arm way before they EVER DID. They don't know what it means to PICK SIDES OR ALLIANCES especially when the effects are not going to be felt by you anyways since your society is 'settled' differently, you have OPTIONS if something goes wrong, the alliances DONT.

U r comparing Digirs and Timirs.
Omanis were powerful Sultanate, a second tier world power that spanned across Two continents while Sudan was, well Sudan.

Cucked?

They moved there and intermarried with the locals, they established businesses and now have power and respect.

I do agree that Somalis lose their language and culture quickly in Arab countries.
We even see it today, some false theories about Arabs being closer to the prophet, SAW.

The land mass they controlled was smaller then PL forget the 'southern end' of our kingdom(galgaduud). They only had Oman and Zanzibar Island. WTF u rating that 'second tier' if that's the case afford PL the same. Plus Kismayo and Bajuni Island was destined to be a Majerten Outpost.

Not just Sudan, half of Eritrea’s coast is inhabited by Arabs:

They moved in the mid 19th century, similar to Somalis who moved to Oman during this time.

What do we have to show for it? Is there a Somali ethnic group or have they completely assimilated into Arab society, have Arab names, speak Arabic, even changing their qabiil names, don’t have their own territory etc.
