It’s because these riots aren’t new they happen very often over there. It’s not due to Brexit either, it’s because the unionists are angry that Sinnfein were allowed to attend a funeral of an IRA member breaking lockdown rules while they weren’t.

Yeah I’m sure the loyalists didn’t appreciate being neglected by both sides during the Brexit negotiations in favour of the republicans. I think people do tend to forget that the violence during the troubles happened on both sides and not just the IRA. I mean if your enemy gets what they continuously wants through threatening violence why not do it yourself.
