Oh I thought he was seen as Christian in Islamic tradition. In Islamic tradition, that KING was a Muslim(Or a true follower of Monotheistic Christianity). And Prophet Mohamed pbuh prayed for him and upon him after the King's death. There is a prayer in Islam called "Janazah", which is performed on the dead person after they are cleaned and washed, wrapped with a white blanket(if available). Muslims treated Ethiopia special for that reason for generations.

His silver coins at the time:
You have to repost the coins again bro. They don't show. Also, In Islam, whilst the King was a Christian, he was also a Muslim by Adhering to the prophetic message of monotheism sent with Jesus which are similar to what Mohamed brought. This is because of how Islam is defined. And how a Muslim is defined.
Islam = Submission to the will of the Creator. This is the religion of mankind from Adam to Jesus and Mohamed. And beyond.
Muslim = One who submits themselves to the will of God. A follower of all prophets and messengers, one who affirms their message and follows their path. A Muslim does not pick and choose among prophets and messengers because their objective and message were similar to that of Prophet Mohamed, sent by the same creator. In Islam, messengers/prophets are like brothers. Mohamed pbuh is their last.
You can read brief account of what transpired and was written in Islamic Tradition regarding the King and The first Muslim immigrants whom he welcomed.
