Italian Somaliland was most likely just the Banadir region, there is a census done in 1931 that shows the population in Italian Somaliland being about 1 million. Every source, from tribal census to population census done during this era totaled to about 1 million.

Somalia always had a larger population than SL. The land is more fertile and plenty of farmers, farmers always demographically dominate nomads. In SL only Gabiley & Awdal regions had farmers. This is also why why anything West of Hargeisa has the second highest population density in the Somali-inhabited parts of the Horn after Banadir

Was this before or after Dawaiish rebellion? His 20 years struggle caused 1/3 of Somaliland population to perish. The 1950s estimates put Somalia at 1.2 million and Somalilanders at 640k.

Not even full-time farmers but agro-pastoralists.
