Should Ismael Omar Gelleh become President of FGS/South Somalia?

We can all agree: The south is hopeless.

The two large groups (H/D) can't seem to reconcile and create a peaceful environment despite 3 decades of conflict. The D*r clan is present in the south and would be a natural compromise choice. IOG has already shown a steady leadership in Djibout, increased investment, developed excellent relationships with African, Middle Eastern, European countries and there is even a Chinese military base in Djibouti.

For Djibouti, this will also allow a much needed changing of the guard (although not "western democracy", which I despise). African nations need a strong hand to ensure peace, safety and development (look at Rwanda).

Once FGS President, IOG has excellent relations with SL, PL and Galmudug so can determine a final resolution to the issues of the former Somali Republic.

There is only natural ONE choice - choose IOG!

Simple as. No.

He can control Djibouti by being a strongman. Djibouti is small, so he can keep a tight hand on it. He is basically a dictator. And Somalis and Dictators do not go hand in hand. So, the idea won't work :manny:

I could agree with you but then we’d both be wrong

IOG should relinquish the presidency and make room for a dynamic young president.

Gentlement, keep an open mind.

Besides, what alternative do we have? Exactly.

This is the only viable choice. Choose wisely.

Do you think he has done more good than bad for Djibouti ?

There are Djibouti troops in the South. Even alshabaab doesn't target them. Good people, not stupid to make rash decisions like that.

he can potentially do the same for Somalia. There is goodwill from everyone for IOG including Mogadishu and Jubbaland.
Somalis ain't too passionate about having a strongman. The last strongman we had was Barre, and that ended with many chimping out.

IOG could keep control of Djibouti as it is small and has demographics leaning to one clan, but Somalia?
It will be a tough challenge :cosbyhmm:
