Police nab Shabaab operative, recover bomb ingredients in Kismayo

KISMAYO (HOL) - A suspected Al-Shabaab operative who security officials said was planning an attack in the port city of Kismayo has been arrested.

Security forces in the coastal city arrested the man Friday and recovered an assortment of bomb making components and hand grenades.

The arrest happened during an sting operation in the town to hunt down Al-Shabaab militants who have in the recent past conducted a series of attacks.

One person was killed last week and several others injured when an unidentified person hurled grenade at a restaurant in the city.

A report by the Mogadishu based think tank Hiraal Institute released Friday said the militants had increased attacks in Jubbaland capitalizing on the ongoing row between the southerly state and the Federal Government.

The report also observed that the militants were cashing in on low military offensives by Ethiopian Forces in the region.

Are these guys even Somali? I'm glad we're catching them prior to destroying lives but these foot soldiers are of no concern, Somali government and federal governments need to catch the planners and cut off the life lines of these monsters.

If I were elected president I would create a program in cooperation with the Tazanian government incentivizing their return. The only other option would be to force them out, or to massacre them. I wouldn't be willing to do the latter but the former shouldn't be much of a problem given what goes on in the world that the international community is aware of and yet chooses to ignore. I would also have a strong focus on the military and enforcing authority over all currently recognized territories with he eventual goal of expanding further. Which could be done in any number of ways, I would ally with Egypt to counterbalance Ethiopian dominance in the country and expel all Ethiopian and AMISOM forces once security is assured. Corruption would also be a major focus

no need for that once the country becomes a bit more stable we should be able to mass deport them with made up charges
