Wow. I thought the bolder was just me. It's a strange feeling. Others are:

Airplanes just before and after takeoff
Sparse settlements in the middle of nowhere
Forests in foreign countries

University outside of term time

Departure lounges just before a flight in the early morning; bonus points if there aren't many others in the lounge waiting for your flight with you and you're taking the flight alone.
It's like you're almost in another dimension or something: the way you perceive the world suddenly becomes different
