As @LarryThePuntite has said, this galgala cell is a blessing, it means more military funding from the international community to train and conduct military exercises for the PL army, making them stronger and more professional

The more terrorists who wash up on our shores and hide in our mountains the stronger our security appuratus gets the more higher appetite Puntlanders will have to protect Nabad in thier region.

These gun runners are from a business model that is drowning in Somalia because of peace and development.

Every state has mooriyas and people wanting to maintain the status quo of lawlessness

I think it's bad it's not good for Puntland's law and order, Galgala cell has been used by Puntland for a long time to get funding but our anti terror forces have always been organized and they do not participate in any other operations. The regular daraawiish and police should be our priority it's not good for us in the long term to have Galgala exist especially with the investments in Bosaso. Puntland needs to go back to the 90s when there was more stability there than any part of Somalia because of the local populations.

@Yonis

What’s freightening is when you step back and take a look from the surface with the perspective that these gun runners where alleys during the chaotic period of Somalia in 90s. These men were used by many tribes to bring in Arms and weapons to bring Safety to the region.

Once the government took control of peace, thier services weren’t needed but thier business model still remained in tact. Now that same business model is being used to fund terror groups and this where the buck stops.

The gun runner business isn’t as lucrative as it use to be and now the table has turned where the guy who helped you bring peace is cashing profits to bring destruction.

Where is that appetite for fighting terrorists in other parts of the country?

It’s happening in other gobols. Everyone had the same suppliers. In the book the shadow wars there was an excerpt about how Somali gun runners supplied both state and tribe.

This business model is going to shit when you have peace.

The Galgala isn’t a problem because SL wants peace and they will help end us with it.

SL and PL always communicate in back channels to help sort out the mess in Galgala, both states get funding because of it.

The bigger threat is and always was Alshabab.

Once the colonial border dispute is settled, the sooner Puntland can get back to moving forward. The priority for SL is to move forward with the border and close out the colonial regions, and then get back to work in developing SL.

The United States announced new targeted sanctions on Friday against three individuals, including one in Puntland state in Somalia believed to be providing support to Islamic State terrorists.

Mohamed Mire Ali Yusuf (Mire Ali) was listed among Specially Designated Global Terrorists, a status assigned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) for “assisting in, sponsoring, or providing financial, material, or technological support for, or financial or other services to or in support of, ISIS.”

Mire Ali owns or controls the Liibaan Trading and Al-Mutafaq Commercial Company, both of which are located in downtown Bosaso, a coastal Puntland city on the Gulf of Aden. U.S. officials say he was the sole owner of Liibaan, a livestock trading business that served as a front for Abdulqadir Mumin. Mumin has been under U.S. targeted sanctions for Islamic State affiliation since August 2016.

Mire Ali was an ISIS-aligned financial operative who provided funds to Mumin, the U.S. Treasury said in its statement. As of late 2016, Al-Mutafaq Commercial Company also was run by Mire Ali.

The decision is part of the stepped-up American effort to rein in Islamic State activities across the globe. Also announced Friday were new sanctions against Abdulpatta Escalon Abubakar, who was investigated for transferring funds to Islamic State in the Philippines and was detained last September. Yunus Emre Sakarya and the Profesyoneller Elektronik firm in Turkey were placed under sanctions, primarily for an alleged role in assisting Islamic State in acquiring drone equipment.
