17 schools closed, 6000 students without any education. 19 more at serious risk of closing. With further more at risk as the drought gets worse.
I assume this is the case across Somalia, PL Ministers are always however the first to report and most transparent.
Inshallah this never ending drought comes to an end and also the government finds ways to reduce its impact longer term. To have this many people and potentially a lot more lose access to education is disastrous

Yes research into the aquifer systems of the area and put in correct management for wells and such and manage flood waters to replenish such aquifers reward is self sufficiency
Also which government Puntland or Somalia?
Blame Deni.The Puntite government will need to assess how much it will cost to feed each child during school and seek funding. Going to bed hungry. Disaster.

The school budgets need to increase. In the U.K. schools can act like social day cares for children by giving them access to food and water. For example poorer kids get a breakfast and free school meal in the middle of the day. Of course this wouldn’t address their parents starvation but at least it would help the children keep with their studies.
I’m not sure how much this would cost but it would be a good idea for each school to be surrounded by areas where aid is provided and also like @BongLao said there needs to be local wells/aquifers

I know what you mean by this but my criticism is coming from good intentions.
