My question is, can a person from Galbeed get a Somali ID card? And will they be penalized for not having it? Lotta movement of people and goods across the artificial border.

Reer soomaliweyn get special status if they want to get citizenship they must stay 2 years and become taxpayers after that they can apply.

Every Somali is eligible you just need to apply. In the future you won’t be able to apply for a passport, SIM card etc. imo, they need to open nira offices in NFD and galbeed so people can get it easily.

This is highly problematic politically, idk if this will be done in our lifetimes.

Maybe they can be opened in the refugee camps but even that is pushing it.
