Idk about in Europe but here in North America we are seen as black Africans by everybody and most identify as such
That doesn't make somali black and how is logical that ppl see you black which is not your identitty and go with that is disrespectfully somalis shouldnt accept it

In England we are just seen as somali. But most people are named by their nationality not race in these parts of Europe and Somalis are known in these countries.
They do this shit with Dominicans and Brazilians too, like what's their obsession with forcing others to identify as black. The irony is if you're a somali who doesn't fit their criteria you're seen as not "black enough" or "mixed" you legit cannot win with these people.This video is from five years ago.. someone uploaded this on tiktok and it got over a million views. The amount of comments calling Somalis coons but yet these are the same people who hate their features and hair.
Where I live people consider Somalis as black and we just roll with it. I noticed it's a different case in the UK and I don't blame Somalis who don't consider themselves black over there with everything I read with what they went through with the madows. But what I want to know is why do these people care what we identify as? Black is a made up term anyways... 'Black' people aren't a monolith.

I get called black and sometimes called not black at all.
The best thing to do is just call yourself a somali. Race is a foriegn concept to Somalis and we shouldn't care too much about it.
In the uk even the old cadaans call us "east African". The whole race thing was made for specific groups of peoples who were in Western society. White = western Europeans
Black = bantu/west african
Asian = Chinese/Japanese/Korean
These things change depending on where you are. For example in the uk when many people say Asian they are talking about Indians and Pakistanis.
Race is a very weird thing to classify ethnicities and does not properly include all people. So you have many people like arabs and Hispanics who don't know what race they are and groups in Africa who see themselves as distinct from niger-congo people and don't associate with black.
Race theory needs a new update Ngl. The devs half assed it.

Tbh the US classifies Europeans just white. And they hate that too. The rest of the world goes by ethnicity.

Sudan is where the cushites originate and although they speak Arabic they still look like us. There are still Cushitic speakers in sudan, the Beja.Sudan?
Most of them speak arabic and to be fair there is only a small percent of them who look like us. North-Africans are incredibly diverse I have met a view sudanese girls who looked nothing like me they had bantu-like features and very light skin, met this other girl from Libya who looked arab but had Madow hair. Sudanese and other dark north africans tend to look more like a mix of West-Africans and Arabs rather than cushitic East Africans.

Sudan is a diverse country. There are nilotes, arabs, cushites and mixed people there. I used to hang out with a sudanese girl that looked exactly like a Somali.
It is but most don't look like us.
