Tset-tset fly is also present in Kenya and Tanzania. Cushites livestock did not survive in these countries and they ended up being assimilated to bantu and nilotic ethnic groups. This was relatively easy due to their low population. Places where cushites are still present (Rwanda) the countries high elevation kept the fly away and the cushites there (tutsis) easily managed to control their bantu subjects. Rarely, if never, has farmers conquered pastorals until after industrialisation.

Controversial but Africa was empty until recently. . Colonial officers everywhere noted the vast empthyness and lack of people. Many environmental factors has kept the population low in Africa and onky have the people overcome this with modern technology.
