Gun legislation is not the problem, guns do not kill people, people do. Its due to mass media giving these guys fame to post their sick manifestos on mainstream news.

Mass shootings are bizarre events. I consider it a collective societal ill that pushes some to the edges. A big reason why individuals fall off completely is atomization of society. With that societal problem, people lack the sense of community, a crucial process for any human to regulate their minds in a good feed-back loop of developmental growth, healthily growing the ability to form connection with the fellow human. This is just an interpretation that might be very false, but maybe those mass shooters lost their ability to relate to people in any normal sense because they grew up in a very isolated environment. What else could it be? It seems to be a very Western, particularly American thing. And from a normal intuition, it makes no sense to kill people, no matter how much little woman you're getting or whatever their reasons are. The cause and effect association, what the average Joe use to understand events or psychological states for explanatory purposes, is itself broken in those mass killers. Their brains are maybe just too fucked up, where they have a messed up sense of empathy, sympathy, emotional connection, values, etc., things you need as a human being.
To draw an analogy, if a human grows up without other human beings. What happens is, there is a critical point in the early stage of development for a child where it needs to learn to talk to other people. Not having other people to socialize with through the isolated environment, that aspect of the brain will be damaged for life and the individual will never be able to learn to think correctly or talk. This shows how important it is for humans to be in contact with others, or the individual will be damaged in many ways.
Maybe these mass shooters are unable to relate to the rest of us because of something like that, and perhaps those fringe, highly irregular echo chamber internet places they spend much time in, further weakens the little fitrah they have left. Loosing all sense of mental coordination, since human beings are in very large part susceptible to social contagions; we're conditionally very malleable (also on the flip side, adaptable to challenges). So those crazy forums those people stay in, be it incel or other forms of related extremism, drives them further away from the norm, participating in a very divergent social interactions. Moreover, partaking in forming ideas about warped interpretation about the human condition, relations between systems and people, people and people, various groups, etc. At that point, they are too far out, where doing crazy acts is within their bounds.
