Men are asleep but at death they will awake!
There is always a awkward tension somal males and females, but i have only noticed this with somalis raised in the west, and i noticed our parents have absolutely no problem with communicating with each other.
I dont how many times i would be out with my dad, and he would see a somali lady, and they would just spark up a conversation, without knowing each other, and the same way with my mother, they have no problem with talking to each other, and the conversation is just flowing, with no awkwardness.

Its because after coming here parents get paranoid about their kids talking to anyone, male or female or doing anything out of fear they will join "gangis".

And if two older married people strike up conversation no one will get suspicious, but 2 young single ones it's a potential shukaansi if they get too friendly

Wallahi i can totally agree. Like when you get to a certain age parents start to punch you in convos with opposite sex. You can’t talk to women without people assuming you guys doing the shukaansii. I met a girl at a wedding, randomly. She was the sister of the bride and was bring out some cake and I asked her if she needed help and she said yes. Later we met again and just started talking just about everything and we actually connected and when my heard about it she legit wanted me to marry her, but it wasn’t an attraction between us, but parents don’t really care for that just if you’re talking to girls marry them

lol I was talking to some guy and it wasn't even a friendly conversation. I was just telling him something and my little cousin rushes up and says "ooooo you like him! Are you gonna marry him?" :ohlord:

Bacause Somali parents are damn weird and like to read into everything. This makes the kids paranoid and avoid each other. Most of the time, this leads to just staring and more staring. They won't say shit except fobs.

For example, I was cool with some Somali guys when I was a kid but now we don't even talk or even say salaam to each other anymore or people are gonna start assuming things.

I dont think it has anything to do with somali parents, but our shitty ass community who gossips 24/7, and spread rumors, even the guys gossip like es.
Thats why you cant talk (without intentions) to somali women, because their friends will start gossipping, and somehow the talk will end at her parents.
