I am ( well we are) witnessing a time where a lot of the diaspora are getting more involved with their native culture. Through social media and real life I have seen it.
While most of it has been superficial, many have started to get involved more in depth.
I can’t seem to find a reason for it but, it could be our ethnocentric culture or overall rise in identity politics in the west. As a result of the latter, people latch on to their ethnicity, to assure their self.
Have you seen it in real life and online this phenomenon? For example, I heard my cousin talking about Ajuraan empire and somali peoples history. There was some false said but I wasn’t bothered to correct it.
