Orthodox preaching and a million Amhara man March coming to do Somali galbeed?!

Amharas are slimy dogs I don’t suppose they do this in oromo region. This is direct result of having a guy like Cagjar in charge that betrayed all Somali clans in Somali region. If they do this to jigjiga they can do this to any Somali land in Ethiopia.

oromo region is a bit more diverse when it comes to religion, so they probably feel they need to spread their faith and politics to the historically less ethiopian regions or less abyssinia-ized, like somali and afar. i remember as afar and somali were fighting, they were talking about spreading more churches and their faith in both of those areas.

I think it’s about a bit more than spreading their religion. They are taking lots of jobs from Somalis as well. Mind you Somalis are not allowed to go to Amhara region and do the same

I don’t think they would dare do this in oromo region for fear of getting chopped into pieces

Basically, they want to take it over bro, make it more ethiopian [lol], keep in mind that, the amhara have the largest number of people who reside out of their region. there's millions already in oromia. but the oromo outnumber them, so they don't dare get wild. many of them are married to oromo women/and or, men too, though. it's a lot different.
somali region also, is large and not as populated, so maybe they want their people who cant get jobs in their home region, to go to somali region.

I’d care a bit more if so many Somalis weren’t ass licking these amharas because they’ve got a clan difference difference with the others. What a shame.

You are always welcome to migrate to Somalia when y’all realise Abiy plans to ethnically cleanse yall

I was there last week in Jigjiga. I took a car from Hargeisa and crossed at Wajala. The crossing is extremely tight not in terms of ID but in terms of contraband - there are two check points where you get out of your car and have everything opened, searched, patted down and verified including pockets. They are looking for USD, drugs, weapons, etc.

First, the Somalis there all speak Amaharic as its learned in school and mandatory. So as a Somali from outside DDS you are different. The common language among all the residents is not Somali but Amharic...so the typical Somali interacting with a bijaj driver or waiter is speaking Amharic. Their ID cards and documents are in the Amharic language. Don't think you are in Somalia/SL/PL at all, these Somalis are different.

Second, all the restaurants and hotel staff speak Amharic first and limited to no Somali. There are also Amharic hotels in downtown like ZM, Blue Moon and others. Even the Somali hotels like Jigjiga International and Istanbul have nearly all Amharic staff. Its extremely difficult to communicate. There are Somali hotels but I couldn't believe how many non-Somali hotels there were. I tried to stay in a Somali hotel but ended up in ZM and alcohol was openly served and people were drinking. Thankfully, I switched the second night.

Third, the streets are full of poor beggars who are all Oromo and other Habesh groups. All they know is Adeer iyo Abti give me money. You can't walk in peace and they are super pushy compared to when in Garowe or Hargeisa where they have no power.

Fourth, there are full neighbourhoods in the centre where they are the majority and have huge churches. The huge 5th and 6th neighbourhoods are fully theirs and you feel you are in Addis. These areas start on the main road in the city and head south. There is a huge church called Mikhael Church that is several acres in the 5th district. Thankfully they have not reached the outskirts or miyiga.

Fifth, population wise the Somali locals will tell you the Habish/Oromo are at least 30% if not more. If you ask me, it is likely 30% - 40%.

Sixth, if you walk down these roads in the 5th/6th district (at least a third of the city if not more) there are tons of bars and restaurants with alcohol. Its not illegal.

Seventh, during Ramadan these neighbourhoods, hotels and non-Somali restaurants / bars are fully open. Life goes on and no fasting so they serve what they please. People told me there are two sides to this city and you feel it during Ramadan and daily if shopping there.

Eighth, this is a federation and any ET citizen has a right to work, live and study in DDS - just like any Somali can move to Addis and setup a business. So this population transfer will not end unless there is independence.

Positives
The city is the most organized, cleanest (in terms of rubbish) and greenest Somali city I have visited. Trees everywhere and even during a drought it is a gorgeous region full of farms, flat virgin fields and not cut up into plots for sale like in SL/PL. I can't understate this impression - they take care of their city and surrounding area. Business is good - we could hardly find a hotel room while there are tons of new roads building built - and they have international standards for building unlike SL/PL. There is a lower level of corruption here and the Ethiopian laws are not a joke like ours. People are scared to break the law and disappear in a jail somewhere. The unofficial USD exchange rate is 70 birr to 1 dollar while the official rate is 51. Inflation is 35% but prices in real terms (land/etc) is up huge year over year.

The city has a bright future especially if DDS gains independence and completely disconnects from the Amharic language and laws and removes those who recently migrated there.

I’m more surprised they speak Amharic. It won’t be a Somali city in 20 years .
