On Somali-American Sheikhs

I’ve noticed a disturbing trend with the sheiks in Canada and the U.S.....
50% of them aren’t sheikhs
I give people who devote their lives to teaching others Quran the highest respect, but these men are disrespecting them.

These guys know a couple lines af Arabiy with a red beard and claim to be full blown Sheikhs and cop $100 per kid for dugsi
One of them full out couldn’t even tell me the meaning of Surat Quraish (a Surah many first graders know by heart )
This is insulting to me as someone who has finished kutab
Message to all parents and future parents:

Dugsi is not daycare or status for your kids
You should go with a goal of learning a lot
Screen your sheiks so they aren’t airheads and aren’t pedos
Keep on top of what there learning
Don’t give your hard earned $$$ to fugazi sheiks

if you memorize 114 surahs mashallah, but it you don’t recall the meaning and understand what is being said in kutab, I suggest you learn again

There needs to be some sort of regulatory body that give licences out to accredited sheikhs literally anyone can be a sheikh nowadays by just teaching duxi or making a few videos on youtube

when it comes to somali sheikhs be careful. I do not dismiss people easily however you have to realize shiekhs are human too. I only listen to 2 somali sheikhs religiously to be honest. Sheikh mustafe and sheikh c.rashid ali sufi. The rest of the somali sheikhs take it with a grain of salt specially if you're a woman.

I've never claimed to be a Sheikh. I am not a Sheikh. We live in a time where if you cite from Quran and hadith, you are mocked and told things like you are "playing Sheikh".

So following that logic, it is a sin to be sincere and do what Islam says and it is a virtue to be secular in your conversation. This is exactly what atheists want. Richard Dawkins would agree very much with this view. We need to remove Islam from our speech and this be conditioned to have it absent from our hearts, according to this mentality.

Even if you're just a guy who drives a taxi or works at a cash register or a janitor or you put pizzas in the oven at a pizza shop or a guy at the corner store, it is virtuous for you to mention Allah and talk about Islam and cite the Quran and Sunnah.

Do people think janitors and guys at pizza shops are not worthy to talk about Islam? Only a tiny percent of the population who are Medina graduates should talk about Islam?

Even if you're a poor person or a janitor or a guy who works at a pizza shop, you can and should talk about Islam. The guy that works at the halal pizza shop might just have the Quran memorized.

If even someone who is a janitor or a homeless person tries to talk to you about Islam and you mock him for it, I think you may be a devil- at the least that action is evil.

It is haraam to mock Muslims and I think it must be even worse if you mock them for talking about Islam. I am not willing to yield to the Western idea that I should become secularized and none of us should accept Western imperialism in that regard.

When they knowingly pass on inaccurate information as fact from scripture is that not the BIGGEST sin
No issue with some dude teaching meaning etc., but I do draw the line at claiming the hadiths say a woman can’t go to uni and work that’s opinion

You don’t need to know the meaning to teach Quran memorization, that’s tafsir and a whole other thing if you want to teach them that they need a specialized teacher for that
