I decided to do a bit more research on this because whenever a video pops up of some american revert or something doing the adaan in their western scales and tunes half of the comments are filled with people disapproving but not knowing why and the other half saying you dont sing it you recite/tune/chant/perform/whatever-synonym it. Which is a ignorate argument in my opinion when you have content like this
where at any point you click he is either moving up and down the tune or gap between the words or very maybe he is actually saying something. The only main difference between this and those videos of western maqaamaat as i would call it is that typically western scales are in major key while arab scales are in minor key so it is very clear that something fundamental is different between them even if upon analysing you find the diffference is actually quite small. Think of it as doing the adaan in maqaam cajam which when you think about it no one ever does the adaan in maqaam cajam. That maybe why everyone thinks like this
I decided to do a research on the fiqh of the xukum and sunan of the adaan, using the book The methodological fiqh upon the madhab of the imaam alShaaficii may Allaah have mercy on him, and it is co authored by the sheekhs Ditoore Mustafe alKhin iyo Ditoore Mustafe alBughaa iyo Ditoore Calii alSharbajii
There are sunan on how the adaan should be conducted and of them that are of importance in my opinionare the fifth and eight and tenth. The fifth goes as follows
That he recites (tartiil) the words of the adaan, and he is patient in it, because the adaan is an anouncement for the absentees, and tartiil has been most eloquent in announcement.
The eighth goes as follows
That the mu'adin should be strong in voice when he calls, so as to make the heart of the listener tender and make them inclined towards responding, because of his saying - sallallaahu calayhi wasallama - for Cabdillaahi ibni Zayd - Allaah be pleased with him -, the one who saw the adaan during sleep: "So stand with Bilaal, and cast upon him what you saw and let him make adaan with it, for indeed he is lower in voice than you" (abuu daawud narated it:499, and others). [He said in alMisbaax: "Lower in voice than you is a metaphor about (his voice's) strength and goodness].
And the tenth goes as follows
Not stretching the adaan, i.e. prolonging it or singing it, rather that is disliked.
In a video series sharxi of the book by Ditoore Saamii Muxammad Subxi he adds that Going outside the usual manner, this is disliked
