Oil discovery in Berbera

United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimates the lifecycle cost of extracting and refining one barrel of oil requires, on average, 1,850 gallons of water.

Can we stop looking to oil to solve our problems, the water table under Somalia will not be replenished fast enough if we pump oil. Land will be even more of a wasteland for generations to come.

A lot of it depends on quality of the crude oil. Saudi oil that’s easy to process would be ideal. Worst case its heavy oil like one found in Canada tar sands. Either way oil estraction is not easy and refining is even tougher with amount of engineering and expertise required
