MPs are now voting on the Labourmotion calling for a “pause” in the rollout of Universal Credit. The Tories are expected to abstain meaning the motion will pass.

Emily Ashton (@elashton)
Labour have forced a vote on Universal Credit by putting forward two of its own MPs as "No" tellers - Vicky Foxcroft and Alan Campbell

Though the motion is not binding even though it passed and was brought to put a pause to Universal Credit which will be rolled out coming August and intended to streamline benefits.

Only 1 Tory MP voted in favor of the motion to put UC on hold.

The tories tried to charge 55p per minute anyone calling to enquire the service line for the new all in one streamlined benefit that will leave people in dept for six weeks.

The tories did not want any of the motion to be discussed and locked all their MP's in the lobby to prevent them voting with Labour.

One story MP ignored it and voted with labour.

Motion passed 299-0 but is only symbolic and ministers can ignore it.

Care to give a summary of this issue, for lazy non-UK folk..?
What is this whole UC stuff? Why is Corbyn against it? Why is the outcome significant?

Theresa May is just a xaasid cajuusad with a khasaaroyeen cabinet:farmajoyaab:
She is a xayawaan. If you have more than 2 children, you can't get money for the rest unless you were raped. If you were raped, you literally have to explain this in a form when applying. Imagine being raped and then having to retell everything for some pennies. :/

Edit: this is for one of the benefits. Maybe child benefit or child tax credit. I can't remember.

Basically it's a new type of benefit that intends to replace a few specialised benefit like Child Benefit (children's allowance for clothing etc), Housing benefit (that helps pay for rent and council tax), income support (those whom are unemployed get this. Only £90 per fortnight) Working Tax Credit (allows you to have money whilst working) and a few more. This all will be paid out in one payment and designed to cover and replace all of those topics.

What is ridiculous is that once you claim UC, you have to wait 6 weeks to be paid when you apply. You couldn't really afford 6 weeks if you need money right away right for payments.

Also, it's been said that if you are with someone that also qualifies for UC, you'll both get one payment to one account even if you have different things to pay.

Xaasid :farmajoyaab:

Still, it's disgusting wallahi. :tacky:

Too as you can maybe seduce from the name they trying to reform welfare in the wrong manner.

They combined six benefits together and people will be paid on a monthly basis. Everyone has to also wait for six weeks before any first payment.

This leaves people in debt and homeless as they have to borrow money from elsewhere.

They say people on UC will find work more quickly and paid a higher rate but the truth is people will starve and lose their houses and flats due to rent arrears.

Therefore the test period showed exactly why it cannot be rolled out in August.

Not like she'll listen to anyone though

Zeilah it is the same with the Poll tax they will listen eventually but they are picking on the most vulnerable here.

I do not know what struggling families and the sick can do to protest this.

They are vile and sadistic. The nasty party.

And I wonder why people voted Tories.

Zeilah they were upset with New Labour which was the Tories.

They wanted change from the spin doctoring, lies, wars and open door policy.

Then what they got was Libya, Syria (though initially blocked) and other interventions.

Brexit and leaving Europe, a fragmented society along education and age as most who voted Brexit were old and mostly poorly educated.

Scotland nearly becoming Independent from the U.K.

Rise in homelessness and increase in reliance on food banks both increasing 150% and 300%.

The U.K. is looking for a trade deal and they want to make deal with the EU on how to leave which is not progressing.

If this continues by 2019 there will be no flights leaving from the UK to Europe and vice versa.

A total and utter disaster.
