Mudug is pulling population from Doollo zone of DDS. Mudug, especially the southern portion, also experienced a large influx due to the war against the UIC and Alshabab. Mudug has a TFR of 6.3 while also having in-migration, a recipe for very fast growth.

Most movement from koonfur to Mudug was to southern Galkacyo district. It was mostly from 2006-2012. That flow has reversed since 2012, more people are leaving southern Galkacyo for koonfur than vice versa.
