That's what happens when you mix ignorance and pride.Somalis in the comment section are so embarrassing.![]()
Self hating ass niggaWhen are they not embarrassing
Man Iβm happy I thought peope weβre being racist in the comments .Why are people in the comment section saying 'stop saying Bantu, we all Somali'.
Bantu is not an insult, it's their heritage. They should be proud of this distinction, not need to hide it to pretend that Somalia is a country with one ethic group.
If these were mixed kids saying, said 'we are Somali Arab', people would not say anything.
Yaab.

I like the word Somalian as a marker of national identity although it does sound hideous. Saying Bantu Somali or Arab Somali makes them sound like recent immigrants like British Somali and the like. Whilst many of the groups I mentioned arenβt native, theyβve been in Somali lands for centuries and many have Somali blood. Also, by telling people false stories such as 'We are all Somali', we are also erasing the fact that Somali is a very real ethnic group, and most of us hail from one male ancestor 2600 years ago. Before these minorities found Somalia, or were brought to our lands, we existed.
We need another word for Somali Nationals, to put this issue to bed. I hate the word 'SomaliAN', but maybe that will fix it. So a Shanshiyo, Barawani, Bantu would be SomaliAN, or a Prefix-Somali (Shanshi-Somali, Barawani-Somali, Bantu-Somali, Arab-Somali etc.)
and us ethnic Somalis are SOMALI.
Lol Shanshiyo sound and speak very similar to the Banadiri ethnics. Wouldnβt say theyβre that different and as for Barawa, theyβve gotten the ethnic Somalis to speak their language as well. Shocked to see a video of ethnics all speaking the language. It seems the whole city has just taken on their language. And yes, within Somalia, everyone lives within their own clan lands, and thus, minorities in Somalia have their own areas, where they have different cultures, dialects, and even languages, like the Bantus that speak Zigula (Tanzanian Swahili) in Jubbaland, or the Barawani that speak Chimini, or the Shanshiyo/Cad Cads that speak a form of Patois Somali.
The last part. Yes they do pretend. There are Somalis with Khaleeji passports and on paper theyβre registered as Simply Saudi, Emirati ect and itβs the same for Baluchis and Iranian groups that have lived in the Gulf for centuries. Outsiders simply assume theyβre all Arabs but amongst themselves there is a clear distinction such as Arab and Ajami and via their surnames but foreigners are none the wiser. If Somalis were minorities in Bantu lands, Arab lands etc, do you think people would pretend that we are not originally Somali? It's not progressive to erase people's heritage.
Theyβre trying very hard to be woke and not racist but are actually being racist without realizing. Itβs cringing to see. Letβs call a spade a spade. Iβm glad theyβre not doing the usual βyouβre not Somaliβ nonsense, but the complete opposite in which youβre forcing them to deny their heritage isnβt helpful as well. I think the best way to go about it is to see them as Somali citizens, who might not be fully ethnic Somali and who have their own distinct identity. But they are, and don't realise it.
They are telling the Bantu kids to stop claiming Bantu, and only claim Somali, as if Bantu is an insult or something. I guarantee you that if these kids said 'I am Somali Arab', nobody would say a word. Or if they said "I am Barawani".
Some minorities in Somalia, are allowed to represent their ethnic sub-culture, whereas people have a weird reaction to Bantus. Like guilty liberal Cadaans oo kale.

The same people would probably go crazy asking them to stop claiming Somalis if they stopped adding the Bantu distinction. But they are, and don't realise it.
