Did you watch the whole video?Wrong. Time is a factor against you. You cannot meet everyone. It takes too long. You also have finite energy reserves. Naturally you need to filter based on some pre-set criteria.
Too much choice does not improve your lot. It creates a dizzying number of options.
Having a few good enough options is better than the best of the best? Also, how do you even know if someone is upper echelon anyway. It's impossible to guarantee you have your ideal. Though you can select wisely.
However, that is based on what people reveal. The information you are presented with is incomplete and people lead with their representatives (not their authentic selves). Plus, every positive trait in its extreme is negative. So, what you appreciate now will probably be irritating in another context or time.
In many cases, people don't do better they invariably trade in one set of characteristics for another in someone else.
Also, as for the soulmate quandary it's rubbish. You can get your soul mates in different people. And they don't need to be through romantic relationships. It's unrealistic to demand your spouse/person meet all your social needs. It sets them up for failure.
