A woman and her daughters abandoned by her husband because of their eyes color
Risikat Azeez is a woman from central Nigeria who was born with a rare condition : her blue eyes, meanwhile she is a black person with no caucasian ancestors. Indeed, Risikat is the only child of her parents born with this condition.
She met her husband Abdul-Wasiu Omo-Dada and apparently, he accepted and loved her as she was.
But trouble started when she gave birth to their first child who also has blue eyes. It seems her husband only accepted her because he was expecting their children to have black eyes like most black people.
Later on, Risikat gave birth to a second child with the same condition.
Due to his family’s pressure and his own disappointment, her husband finally decided to abandon his family.
No need to say that Risikat's condition has nothing to do with a disease. Since she was younger, physicians confirmed her eyes were perfect. She says she can see clearly.
Her story turned viral and a lot of people in her country decided to help her with shelter and scholarship for her daughters. Several people went to her place and one of them, a professional photographer took this nice picture that shows them with brighter faces.
Discrimination for any reasons makes my blood boil. The world would really be better if everybody accepted each other regardless of their difference.
