How are multiple groups supposed to communicate if they speak different mother tongues then?

English is not the same as French. It's used as a lingua Franca across the world cause of the American economy.
Africans can communicate with this but on a national level, they can speak their own languages.
Terrible answer. There's actually no good reason why English is ok and french isn't. Either ban all foreign languages or don't.
English is the lingua Franca of the world, whereas French isn't.
That alone is a good reason for its use.
