Guys Surah Baqara is amazing walaah. From verse 40 to 86 -- Allaah swt speaks about how he favored Baanu Israel- and how they were stubborn, ungrateful, and unthinking. Even Prophet Musa pbuh was so shocked with them- He sought protection against their Jaahiiliiyaa in the name of Allaah swt! (Something tells me prophet Musa pbuh was a comedian lol walaaahi i laughed so loud when i heard the ayaat where he seeks refugee in Allaah swt against the Jahiiliiya of his people)
Imagine these offences--- Allaahs swt starts by reminding them of the favor he did them by rescuing them from Pharaoh who was killing their sons, and taking their women. Then, While Musa pbuh was in the mountains with Allaah swt- they again returned to worshiping other Gods. Then, Musa pbuh returned, and he asked for forgiveness on their behalf. Then, the baanu Israeelis asked Musa pbuh to see Allaah swt themselves or else they wont believe. Then a lightning strikes them- and they ALL drop DEAD. Then, Allaah swt brought them back to Life in order that they are thankful to their Lord Allaah swt! Then, they were given food from heaven- Quails- and other unmentioned blessed food called "Al Amaana". Then, they asked for a change of food- and Musa pbuh asks them will u prefer wheat, lentils or onions for What God provided u? (Mind you all the food they asked for has high sugar and is no good fat which no doubt contributes to no long life)
Later they change the Toraah revelation verses that Musa pbuh came with, and they were severely punished. I mean, it goes on and, on, and on- yaaqqeee--While it was exhausting to hear it-- yet it was glorifying to also know & hear Allaah swt mercy--tirelessly merciful, and continuously forgiving them! Allaahu Akbaaar!
Imagine these 'chosen ones' behaving like this- what about the rest of us? Subhanallaah
