Surprised to see it be black people. People in the US are all trigger happy regardless of race. Simply walking outside somebodies yard and you’ll hear someone loading their shotgun.

In most jurisdictions, including Illinois (where this incident took place), self defense is only allowed when preventing death or great bodily harm to yourself or another. The video clearly shows a man punching the mother and holding her. Any punch towards someone can theoretically kill such person, and because the mother could not escape at the time lethal defense can be seen as justified. However, prosecutors allege that the teen continued firing rounds even after the man punching his mother began to flee the scene and is no longer a imminent threat, making the use of force illegal.
