The flag is like this - the one we know

Supposedly this is from Fernao Vaz Dourado's map of africa in 1576 but I haven't been able to find a source on it other than this website

Anyone wanna try to find the map?

Here is from earlier world atlas and there's no flag

I manage to find a Portuguese blog that has all types of medieval Portuguese discovery maps including the Mogadishu flag.

Interestingly enough when you look at the Fernoa Vaz Dourada map.

West Africa.

However, the map that shows the Mogadishu flag has a different drawing of world maps.

When you check out the blog. It also sets up timelines for each maps so it could be that these maps weren't produced by Fernao Vaz Dourado nor in the year of 1576.

These flags were based on Portuguese descriptions and why would Muslim kingdoms show similar flags? The whole idea of having a flag is to be unique and recognizable in order to show that you're a separate entity from your neighbours.
