A Djiboutian soldier stationed in baladweyne was poisoned by a local xalimo he used to date. After he broke up with her, she brought a poisoned watermelon for him in the military base. Later, after the guy ate the watermelon, he was rushed to the military hospital and he eventually died. I was told this story by a childhood friend who was also stationed in baladweyne. I'm assuming this is a common act of vengeance practice by Southern somalis.
