In mainland Europe they sort out the kids by ability around the age of 12. So the type of 'HS' diploma they end up with automatically allows them to enter university. They don't have entrance exams in Germany and similar countries, but the universities are of a high standard.

In Europe, students are much older when entering university and this difference in maturity may be the main reason for lack of such protests.

With that said trough time young people have rebelled one way or another. Universities has been the focal point of protest and dissent against the status quo, and in a continuation of that is brought by the above-mentioned people. It's their way of expressing dissent against a status quo and what in their eyes is the struggle for a true means of equality.

I feel many alt-righters are in a deliberate attempt to make an obscure protest the focal point of a counter-culture movement that would revers American society to the good old days of the 60s and 50s. It's sadly no longer a uniquely American phenomena but in Europe it is a reaction to changing demographics rather than preceived slights that white people experience.
