I think I eat about 75 grams of meat per day (some days I don't, so average out). That's only like 60 lbs per year, wtf? Nowhere near the American average, the hell.

Meat is seriously unhealthy and damages the environment. Switched over to veggie options and only occasionally eat tuna/cod.

If you believe in evolution, then you have to know about how meat consumption possible made proto-humans much smarter and kick started the cognitive revolution. So, it's not all bad.

Eventually they will find solutions to the negative environmental effects of livestock raising.

That's the thing. If you believe in physical evolution, then you should also technically believe in dietary evolution too. As a species changes, their diet evolves and specialises as well. Plus you can get plenty of the protein, iron and nutrients from vegan alternatives.

Those faux meats taste like shit. Until they have perfected it I am going to stick to real meat.

What time does it end? Why is it done for over a half a year?

It doesn't end at a time, it's a daily thing, we should only eat 1 meal after 3pm every day. And because there are many fasts, 7 of which are compulsory and the one we are doing currently is the longest one, 55 days. In total there's around 180 days of fasting including Wednesdays and Fridays, and for people like priests it's something like 250+ days.

But people in the diaspora in general only do the most important one, whereas back home it's different.

And I thought Islam was harsh. :damn:
