This reaction make sense, and to be fair Basques have been fighting for independence for nearly 300 years. They're been killed and oppressed by Spaniards for centuries. Even their language was banned at one point. Recently a lot of their leader were arrested.
They are also genetically different and have their own culture. I can understand their grievances. I wouldn't doubt that madow was paid by and sent by Spanish politicians to incite violence and make Basques look bad
