It’s all about identity. Clearly SL have an anti-Somali identity. Thats why they say shit like ‘Somalian’. That identity drives their determination to succeed. They‘ve already left in spirit. This would just provide finality. The rest of Somalis don’t have an anti-Somali identity. If/when they do, is the day they will support it.

Hawiyes and Daroods dont feel boxed out and dream to take the helm forever.

Raxanweyn live too spread out and their coast is inhabited by other clans. I doubt they will ever become secessionist.

@Abaq Dont forget the economic/ports angle as well. Deni has made comments recently about opening up trade with SL again if I recall correctly, and about PL exploiting its own natural resources. Deni also is looking for more funding to further expand Garacad and build asphalt roads through the 3G road to Ethiopia/DDS. Madobe has Kismayo port obviously. They may be trying to connect all three economically so that they have their own parallel system.

They should. Somalia is a dead country. Folks in the south, especially Hutus will always view reer Puntland as their enemy. Plus, they'll never politically agree with PL. It would be best for PL to separate from Somalia as an independent country. I as a Puntlander, fully support Puntland independence. Although, I do not support the !doorlander approach of trying to absorb Gazans for recognition.

I for one wholeheartedly welcome Somaliland, Puntland, and Jubaland charting their own course from the bottomless pit of doom that is Mogadishu and the failed regime there. Xamar is malicious and cruel. They even dictate how much livestock each state can export

SL 30 year policy is to move closer to Pl borders and destabilise Harti communities (through bribery, economic warfare, violence and covert support Ethiopia and cadaan Zionists). Cirro is arming Isaaq tribal militias as we speak, and the last major battle happened after he found out SSC sent some soldiers to help in the mountains against ISIs.

This recent love affair with SL by some is strange. As for separatism, you think the world will recognise 3 Bantustans in Somalia which will lead to a Pandora’s box across Africa?
