it's possible to get taller with tens of thousands of dollars and goodbye to all and any athleticism you once had or didn't have. And all that for 2-3 inches.

The paradox of this is that any man who truly needs to pay tens of thousands of dollars to grow taller is below 5'6" and paying for the surgery would leave them at max 5'8" which is still considered short lol. Same thing if you're 5'7-5'8 paying a house just to be 5'9-5'10

Wallahi, that's a weirdly good point. It's similar to when people get plastic surgery for one particular area of their face and something always seems off about their face and unnatural. Even if you grow up malnourished, your body usually grows with a certain amount of balance and symmetry and throwing any one variable way off like they're doing without changing the rest in equal proportion will probably create a strange and noticeable imbalance.
