Whenever reading about the rahanweyn people and their settlements, l can never find anything on these settlenmets on Google or even Google earth. They’re either unnamed or simply hidden. An example of this is ooflawe a town said to be the capital of the hubeer and yantaar people yet is nowhere to be seen. I’ve decided to dedicated this thread to shed some light on the hidden towns of baay.
This may come as a surprise to some but baidoa and buurhakaba are not the only large settlements in baay, theyre just the only ones we hear of.
This is Beerdale, a town in western baay which was previously under baidoa district but is now a district of its own. lt is mostly populated by the leysaan subclan of the siyeed mirifle. It’s unnamed on Google earth and barely even discussed yet is the same size as dhusomareeb
This is Ufurow, a town in southwestern baay north of diinsoor. It is mostly populated by the hubeer clan who are a sagaal mirifle assimilted clan of samaale heritage. For context this random unnamed and unheard of town in the middle of Baay ls not much smaller than gabiley and has many more farms surrounding it than gabiley does.
This is qansax dheere a town (and a district) also in southwestern Baay. It is mainly populated by the geelidle subclan of the sagaal mirifle. For context this town is the size of buuhodle
These are just a few of many large towns and settlements in Baay that no one has heard of due to the isolationist nature of much of the south. Once the south is fully liberated somalis will realise how large the rahanweyn confederacy actually is.
