A really gorgeous and thoughtful film, well the directors cut anways.
Some of the imagery in this film are just striking

Salahudin and Baldwin's scenes are kept just sparse enough for their mystery and aura to fill in the gaps.

Good that you've reminded me of watching this movie. I've seen many clips of it and its about time I watch. I was wondering where Ive seen the guy that plays Salah adin till Ive finally remembered.
He played Al Sumayl bin Hatem in Saqr Quraysh series. Al Sumayl was a man who caused a war between Adnani tribes and Qahtani tibes also knows as Alyamniyah

What a movie!

This character was amazing in the film, he really was the Muslim side mirroring the films main character. They just did not give him more time.
I also like his quote other quote "As you sow, you reap. Of this you know you huh?" or something like that, he utters it to the main character when he is supposedly bound to be killed.

Also he is later revealed to going bald very badly but he is dedicated to his master, it does not seem to register to him.

Great character.

Movies of that era were fire. Can't go wrong with ancient kingdoms and war.

Good examples include Troy and Gladiator.
