The whole incident is unfortunate. The involved groups (Turkana & Toposa) are very closely related Nilotic populations, so this is fratricide; colonial borders are obviously artificial and this is precisely why I wish we could eventually annex Turkana lands into South Sudan (where they belong) when we stabilise.

I became pro-secessionist after Garang died; our Moses (as we called him) was probably the only person who could have kept Sudan together in some shape or form.

Independence was worth it because the North and South are very distinct; the North was also insistent on annexing our lands and trying to subject us to their will and that simply was never going to be accepted -- no matter the costs.
