I binged Berserk 1997 anime last week and finished it yesterday. I knew slightly about the reputation of the anime/manga but I completely forgot it.

Started watching and thought to myself, ”this anime will certainly be deeply philosophical, dark but it will like any other dark media”. How wrong was I, I even spoiled myself a little bit of the ending (Knew Griffith would sacrifice his army and friends). Even then I was totally oblivious.

I have witnessed the worst anime betrayal ever. I have witnessed the most gut wrenching ending to an anime. No wonder his name is Guts, his story will hit in the guts. I was punching in the air in my room, I was fighting real nigga tears

The way Kentaro Miura set up the story is just heinous. How dare you to tell such a beautiful story and end it like that. No shame, I got little bit invested to Cascas and Guts love. Felt happy for them both. Better question would be who wouldn’t? Maybe only Griffith.

There were signs that shit will happen but I just carried on. The words Griffith said after winning the 1st againts Guts and what Nosferatu Zodd said to Guts should have ringed some alarm bells.

I have decided to pick up the manga and finish the story. Been a longtime since I have read a manga.

Definitely top 5 GOAT Anime for me, ans I'm saying that as a guy who was into it since they were airing Naruto on Cartoon Network lol, sadly most anime have become either too 1 dimensional or predicable, only thing I've recently watched was Doctor Stone and Mash.

Anime nowadays is just not the same anymore. Can’t remember an anime that captivated me like Berserk did last week, its been so long.

The industry needs to revitalise itself, what they are pumping out is not on the same level as it was before.

Honestly I started the same way. I started watching the anime because I read that Guts won a popularity poll for being the manliest anime character LMAO.

When you finish the anime, wallahi you feel like you've been wronged. I might have punched the computer if it's wasn't our home pc. The manga is the only remedy and it's amazing. I still think to this day the eclipse is what jahannam looks like. Miura had a crazy imagination.

I randomly saw the whole anime on my youtube feed and gave it a try. I felt just like you, I was wronged to due to seeing such a terrrifying ending. Throughout the anime, Guts and the band of the hawk were cruising. They defeated all obstacles, they seemed invincible. To see them defeated in an instant was unexpected, nevermind what happened to Casca.


The eclipse captivates many of the mans worst fears and also it happens so suddenly. Zodd gives a hint but nobody expects shit like that to happen. Miura gave crumbs but hoodwinked us all.

Im watching the 2016 anime then hopping on the manga, already started it.

I understand why Griffith did what he did. Other than the thing he did to Casca, I don't really view him as a villain. He had a dream and it was ruined by betrayal. Guts is a selfish arsehole.
