To move on as somalis we have to examine where we went wrong and learn from our mistakes. We also must discuss the dark past to turn over a new leaf into a brighter future. Today let's hear what you have to say about the kacaan. Please keep it civil with no tribalism and hate.

Was the siad barre era good or bad disscuss

He was secular so it was a terrible time. he tried to be European so bad and changed our military dress, school clothes and even killed sheiks for speaking up about his unislamic policies. He also bombed civilians. So final grade for aabo siyad is F-

Y’all would rather secular anyday. Why else do Somalis run to gaalo countries? Why not muslim ones?

The kacaan had noble goals, they wanted to transform Somalia. Although they took the authoritarian approach it could've worked if they analyzed the Somali society and figure out how to go about it. Instead they copied the models Russia had undergone it's revolution. Somalis weren't used to living under authoritarianism, they weren't workers, they weren't farmers. There was no way communism would work in such society. China took a different approach and allowed private enterprises while nationalizing national resources. Somalia was damned if they embraced Capitalism as foreign entites would exploit our resources and damned if we embraced Communism as Somalia wasn't industrialized.
The best approach would have been to allow private enterprise and nationalize major industries and national resources.

The other issue the kacaan had was they massively failed to diversify the economy, failed to explore and extract our resources and instead relied on cold war aid from the USSR. Idk if they were unable to or they simply didn't want because I haven't read enough on it but i will assume they just couldn't.

Siad Barre was a strong leader for our nation but he was a flawed individual who made fatal mistakes in the Ogaden war that eventually led to the collapse of the regime. What followed was, by all means, a senseless period of civil conflict. So, what's the lesson here?

Dictators are ultimately a bad idea, Somalis should never make that an option again.

The reason somalis left their country and come to gaal countries is caused by a lack of deen. Qabil fighting is the unislamic disease that caused this. In stable muslim countries like qatar and saudi people don't need to leave or run away. it has nothing to do with religion but it is about safety.

In the Ogaden war against the Ethiopians in 1977, the Soviet Union was our ally initially (that's where we got the weaponry from) but they switched over to the Ethiopians late in the war. We would've won and Ogaden would be a part of Somalia now.
